Israel and Lebanon Agree to Begin Direct Negotiations
Israel and Lebanon have agreed to start direct negotiations following extensive diplomatic talks. The breakthrough came after Israeli and Lebanese envoys held more than two hours of discussions mediated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The agreement marks a significant development in Middle Eastern diplomacy, as direct talks between the two countries have been rare due to their long-standing tensions and the absence of formal diplomatic relations. Lebanon and Israel remain technically at war, with their border disputes and conflicts involving Hezbollah having created decades of animosity between the neighboring nations.
