Camera Traps Catch Illegal Antler Collectors in Slovakia's Tatra Mountains

Share:

Wildlife monitoring cameras in Slovakia's Tatra Mountains have captured images of illegal collectors gathering deer antlers while wearing camouflage clothing. The Tatra National Park, which encompasses Slovakia's highest mountain range and is a protected UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, uses camera traps to monitor wildlife populations and detect unauthorized human activity. Park authorities are warning that removing natural materials like shed antlers from the protected area violates conservation laws and disrupts the ecosystem. The collectors were photographed carrying antlers on their backs, apparently attempting to avoid detection by wearing military-style camouflage gear.
