Austrian Economy Stagnates in Fourth Quarter as Foreign Trade Weighs on Growth

Austria's economy showed no growth in the final three months of 2024, with gross domestic product remaining flat compared to the previous quarter. The stagnation was primarily driven by negative developments in foreign trade, as imports surged 1.7 percent following a 0.7 percent decline in the third quarter. The import growth offset other economic activity and prevented the Austrian economy from expanding during the October-December period.
