Renewable Energy Sources Supplied Majority of German Electricity in 2024

Germany generated 58.6 percent of its electricity from renewable sources in 2024, marking a significant milestone in the country's energy transition. Wind, solar, and biogas collectively dominated the nation's power supply, with solar energy experiencing particularly strong growth. Electricity production from photovoltaic installations surged 17.4 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 70.1 billion kilowatt hours. The achievement represents Germany's continued shift away from fossil fuels as part of its commitment to reduce carbon emissions and transition to clean energy sources.
