The Government Office has not yet released the list of delegation members who will travel with Fico to the anniversary commemorations. Fico, leader of the ruling social-democratic Smer-SD party, has maintained closer ties with Russia compared to previous Slovak governments, making his potential attendance at the May 9 Victory Day celebrations—which commemorate the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany—politically significant given ongoing tensions over Russia's war in Ukraine.
