Russian Regional Minister Dismissed Following Cattle Farmer Protests in Siberia
Share:
A local minister in Russia's Novosibirsk region has been dismissed following protests by cattle farmers in Siberia. The protests were triggered by an outbreak of pasteurellosis, a bacterial disease affecting livestock, that struck cattle farms in the Novosibirsk region and several other Russian federal subjects between February and March 2026. The epidemic appears to have caused significant concern among local cattle farmers, leading to demonstrations that ultimately resulted in the regional official's removal from office.
