Pope's AI Encyclical Warns Against Technology Replacing Human Values, Slovak Theologian Says

A papal encyclical on artificial intelligence warns that AI creates an idol of performance and efficiency that could reduce humans failing to meet effectiveness criteria to mere statistical errors to be eliminated, according to Slovak theologian Juraj Vittek. The theologian explained that the encyclical emphasizes integral human development and cautions against technology becoming a dictator rather than a helper. Vittek argued the key question is not whether society wants technology, but whether technology will serve human development or trample over humanity, as the Pope addresses growing concerns about AI's impact on human dignity and social values.
