Hundreds of visitors gathered along the Biskupice branch of the Danube River on Saturday, June 27, for the annual Danube Day celebration, braving extreme heat to take part in the event. The festival, held at one of the river's natural side channels near Bratislava, brought together local residents, communities, and nature enthusiasts in a celebration of the Danube as a shared living space connecting people, villages, and the natural environment. Danube Day is an internationally observed event marking the signing of the Convention on Cooperation for the Protection and Sustainable Use of the Danube River, celebrated annually on June 29 across the countries through which the river flows. The Biskupice arm of the Danube is a protected natural area near the Slovak capital, valued for its biodiversity and recreational significance.
