Ghanaian UNIFIL Base Attacked in Southern Lebanon, Several Peacekeepers Wounded

Several Ghanaian peacekeepers were wounded in an attack on a United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) base in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon's state news agency NNA. The attack targeted the Ghanaian contingent's headquarters within the UN peacekeeping mission. UNIFIL has maintained a presence in southern Lebanon since 1978, with its mandate expanded in 2006 following the war between Israel and Hezbollah to monitor the ceasefire and support the Lebanese army in securing the border region.
