Jan Grolich, the governor of South Moravia, has been elected as the new chairman of the Czech Christian Democratic Union-Czechoslovak People's Party (KDU-ČSL). Grolich replaces Marek Výborný, who previously led the party. The KDU-ČSL is a center-right Christian democratic party that has traditionally been part of Czech coalition governments and currently serves in opposition to the ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Petr Fiala's Civic Democratic Party.
