A new survey reveals that 51 percent of Polish respondents oppose granting same-sex couples access to the same social benefits available to married couples. The poll highlights ongoing divisions over LGBTQ+ rights in Poland, a predominantly Catholic country where same-sex marriage remains illegal and civil unions are not recognized. The issue has exposed disagreements within the current government coalition, which includes both liberal and more conservative parties that took power after defeating the nationalist Law and Justice party in 2023 elections.
