Slovak Storks Face Death in Africa Due to Wars and Famine During Migration

Share:

Slovak storks migrating to their winter grounds in Africa are falling victim to armed conflicts and food shortages across the continent. The birds travel approximately 18,000 kilometers during their migration journey, but many are being captured, bound, and killed for food in war-torn and famine-stricken regions. The dangerous conditions mean that a significant number of the storks that leave Slovakia each autumn will not return to their nesting sites the following spring, highlighting how distant conflicts and humanitarian crises are affecting Slovak wildlife populations.
