Travel Insurance Costs Rise in Slovakia This Year

Share:

Travel insurance premiums in Slovakia have increased this year, making it more expensive for Slovak residents planning trips abroad. Financial experts are warning travelers not to rely solely on alternative forms of coverage, particularly the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or insurance policies automatically bundled with payment cards. The EHIC, issued to EU citizens, provides access to state-provided healthcare in other EU countries but does not cover all medical costs or services such as emergency repatriation. Similarly, card-linked insurance policies often carry significant coverage gaps and limitations that travelers may not be aware of until they need to make a claim. Experts advise Slovak travelers to review their coverage carefully and consider purchasing dedicated travel insurance, despite the higher costs, to ensure adequate protection while abroad.
