Israel Claims Discovery of Hezbollah Tunnel Network in Southern Lebanon
Share:
Israel announced the discovery of a tunnel network allegedly built by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Israeli military officials claimed the tunnels were constructed "according to Iranian standards" and that Iran directly participated in planning and financing the underground systems. The discovery adds to ongoing tensions between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group, which controls much of southern Lebanon and maintains an extensive military infrastructure along Israel's northern border.
