Share:

Transit through the strategic Strait of Hormuz plummeted from 1,229 vessels to just 77 ships in March, according to maritime authorities. The British Maritime Trade Operations agency reported that 20 commercial vessels, including nine oil tankers, were either attacked or reported incidents since the beginning of March. The Strait of Hormuz serves as a crucial shipping lane connecting the Persian Gulf to international waters, handling approximately 20% of global oil transit and making it one of the world's most important energy chokepoints.
