
Michal Šipoš, First Post-Communist Mayor of Stará Ľubovňa, Dies

Michal Šipoš, who served as the first mayor of Stará Ľubovňa after the fall of communism in 1989, has died. Šipoš led the northern Slovak town during the crucial transition period following the Velvet Revolution that ended four decades of communist rule in Czechoslovakia. His son currently serves as a member of the National Council, Slovakia's parliament.
