Oil Tanker Explodes Off Kuwait Coast, Causing Oil Spill in Persian Gulf

An oil tanker explosion occurred in the Persian Gulf approximately 30 nautical miles (56 kilometers) southeast of Kuwait's Mubarak port, causing an oil spill. The incident was reported by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), a British naval organization that monitors shipping security and provides maritime safety information to commercial vessels in high-risk areas. The explosion happened in one of the world's most strategically important waterways, through which a significant portion of global oil exports pass daily.
