Adoption Expert Emphasizes Importance of Transparency in Small Slovakia

Dana Koníček Žilinčíková, a social counselor and supervisor with the civic organization Návrat, which promotes returning abandoned children from institutions to families, stressed that adopted children in Slovakia have minimal chances of remaining unaware of their adoption status due to the country's small size. Her comments follow a reflection by an adoptive father who wrote about his experiences after nine years of raising an adopted child and the questions facing the second half of his child's childhood. Návrat advocates for and supports the return of abandoned children from institutional care to family environments.
