Slovakia has announced its support for diplomatic initiatives to end the war between Russia and Ukraine while maintaining its position that Ukraine must remain secure and stable. Speaking in Brussels, Slovak officials called on the European Union to take a more active role in peace negotiations between the warring nations. The Slovak government's stance reflects its desire to contribute to diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the conflict that has dominated European politics since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Slovakia, a EU and NATO member that borders Ukraine, has been directly affected by the war through refugee flows and energy security concerns, making it a key stakeholder in any potential peace process.
