Franco-German Fighter Jet Development Project Collapses After Years of Preparation

Share:

The multi-billion euro Future Combat Air System (FCAS) project, a joint Franco-German initiative to develop next-generation fighter aircraft, has collapsed after years of preparation. The failure stems from a breakdown in negotiations between French aerospace company Dassault Aviation and European multinational Airbus over critical aspects of the aircraft's design and construction. The FCAS program represented one of Europe's most ambitious defense cooperation efforts, aimed at creating advanced combat aircraft to replace aging fleets in both countries' air forces.
