Switzerland Joins NATO Ammunition Procurement Initiative

Share:

Switzerland has joined a NATO initiative aimed at coordinating the joint procurement of ammunition among member and partner states. Swiss authorities stated the move will strengthen the country's defense capabilities. Officials also emphasized that joining the initiative is consistent with Switzerland's longstanding policy of neutrality, which has historically guided the country away from formal military alliances. NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, is a Western military alliance of 32 member states; Switzerland is not a member but has increasingly engaged with the alliance on defense-related matters in recent years.
