Prešov City Council Takes Control of Local Football Club After Failed Share Sale

The city council of Prešov has approved recovery measures for the local football club Tatran Prešov after an unsuccessful attempt to sell the club's shares. As part of the restructuring plan, the city's mayor will assume the position of chairman of the club's board of directors. The decision represents the council's effort to stabilize the financially troubled football club through direct municipal oversight. Tatran Prešov, like many Slovak football clubs, has faced ongoing financial difficulties. The failed share sale had been seen as a potential solution to bring in private investment and new management to the club. With that option no longer viable, the city has stepped in to implement what officials describe as recovery measures to ensure the club's continued operation.
