EU considers legislation to reduce dependency on single suppliers in sensitive sectors
Share:
The European Commission is considering new legislation that would require diversification of supply chains to at least three sources in sensitive sectors, according to European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič. The proposed measures aim to reduce the EU's vulnerability to supply disruptions by eliminating dependency on single suppliers in critical areas. Šefčovič, a Slovak politician who serves as one of the Commission's vice-presidents overseeing interinstitutional relations and strategic foresight, outlined the initiative as part of broader efforts to strengthen European economic resilience and reduce strategic dependencies on potentially unreliable partners.
