Kurti's Party Wins Kosovo Snap Elections But Needs Coalition Partners

Share:

The party of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti won the country's snap parliamentary elections, according to partial results based on vote counting from more than 72 percent of polling stations. The Democratic Party of Kosovo finished in second place. Despite the victory, Kurti's party will need to form a coalition with other parties to secure a governing majority in parliament. The snap elections were called following political instability in the small Balkan nation, which declared independence from Serbia in 2008 and has faced ongoing challenges in establishing stable governance and international recognition.
