Czech President Warns of Iranian Threat and Food Price Increases from Strait of Hormuz Blockade

Czech President Petr Pavel warned that Europe cannot ignore Iran as a threat, cautioning that a potential blockade of the Strait of Hormuz could rapidly increase food prices across the continent, including in the Czech Republic. Pavel emphasized that Iran poses a direct concern for European nations rather than being a distant regional issue. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime chokepoint through which about 20% of global oil shipments pass, connects the Persian Gulf to international waters and has been a focal point of tensions involving Iran and Western nations over regional conflicts and sanctions.
