Iranian News Agency Claims US Deal Would Lift All Sanctions and End Lebanon War
The Iranian news agency Mehr has published what it claims is a draft memorandum of understanding with the United States that would see Washington commit to completely lifting economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic and ending wars on all Middle Eastern fronts, including Lebanon. The report follows US President Donald Trump's announcement on Thursday that he had reached an agreement with Iran aimed at ending conflict in the Middle East. Iran has faced extensive US economic sanctions since the Trump administration's withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal during his first presidency, with the sanctions targeting the country's oil exports, banking sector, and other key industries as part of Washington's "maximum pressure" campaign against Tehran.
