Slovaks View European Countries Most Favorably, Political Divide Emerges on China

Slovaks hold the most positive views toward European countries, with Britain, France, and Germany emerging as the top-rated nations, according to a new survey. The findings reveal a clear political divide in how citizens perceive different countries based on their voting preferences. Opposition party voters showed the strongest favorable attitudes toward Britain, France, and Germany, reflecting traditional Western European ties. Meanwhile, supporters of ruling coalition parties Smer-SD, the far-right Republic party, and the nationalist Slovak National Party (SNS) expressed more positive views toward China than other voter groups. The survey highlights how geopolitical preferences in Slovakia align with domestic political orientations, with opposition voters gravitating toward established Western democracies while government supporters show greater openness to non-Western powers.
