Skeleton possibly belonging to d'Artagnan musketeer discovered in Netherlands

Share:

Archaeologists in the Netherlands have discovered a skeleton that may belong to the real-life musketeer who inspired the famous character d'Artagnan from Alexandre Dumas' novel "The Three Musketeers." The historical figure Charles de Batz de Castelmore d'Artagnan served as captain of the musketeers of King Louis XIV of France and died in 1673 during the siege of Maastricht in the Dutch Republic. The discovery represents a potentially significant archaeological find linking physical remains to one of literature's most enduring adventure heroes, though further analysis would be needed to confirm the identification.
