An 86-year-old man drowned at Lake Veľký Draždiak in Petržalka, a residential district of Bratislava, on Sunday, adding to a growing number of drowning deaths linked to the ongoing summer heat. Emergency services were dispatched to the lake just before noon, where rescue crews pulled the man from the water, but were unable to revive him. The fatality is part of what authorities have described as an exceptionally tragic weekend across Slovakia, with rising temperatures drawing more people to open water and leading to a sharp increase in drowning incidents. Lake Veľký Draždiak is a popular recreational area used by Bratislava residents during hot weather.
