Major General Majid Khademi, head of the intelligence service of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in an attack that struck residential areas near Tehran. Iranian authorities have attributed the strike to the United States and Israel. The IRGC serves as Iran's elite military force, separate from the regular army, and handles both domestic security and foreign operations across the Middle East.
