Slovakia's mountain rescue services conducted 2,515 rescue operations during the winter season, with five fatalities recorded. The rescue teams most frequently assisted Slovak and Polish visitors to the country's mountain regions. The high number of interventions reflects the popularity of Slovakia's mountainous areas during winter months, when hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities draw both domestic and international visitors, particularly from neighboring Poland.
