Slovak President Pellegrini Completes Two Years in Office as Expected
Share:
Slovak President Peter Pellegrini has completed two years in office, with his presidency proceeding largely as anticipated when he took office in June 2022. Pellegrini, who previously served as prime minister and emerged from the social-democratic political camp, has fulfilled the role in line with expectations. If he decides to seek re-election for a second five-year term, he will again require support from the political coalition that originally backed his candidacy. The presidency in Slovakia is largely ceremonial, with the head of state serving as a unifying figure and representing the country internationally, while executive power rests with the prime minister and government.
