Czech Engineer Has Evacuated 500 People from Ukraine War Zone Using Own Funds

Share:

Czech construction engineer František Glac has been providing extensive humanitarian aid to Ukraine since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022. During the first months of the war, Glac used his old van to evacuate people from dangerous zones on a weekly basis, primarily mothers with children and elderly residents. He has rescued a total of 500 people, spending 80,000 euros of his own company's funds on these missions. What began as relatively straightforward trips that he describes as once being like "going on an excursion in shorts" has evolved into life-threatening work as the conflict has intensified. Glac now carries a shotgun specifically designed to defend against drone attacks, highlighting how the security situation has deteriorated significantly since the war's early stages.
