Shell Acquires Canadian Shale Gas Producer ARC Resources

British energy giant Shell has agreed to purchase Canadian natural gas company ARC Resources to expand its access to shale gas production. ARC Resources operates in British Columbia and the neighboring province of Alberta, the same region where Shell already has operations. The acquisition will strengthen Shell's position in North American shale gas markets as the company seeks to grow its natural gas portfolio.
