US and Ecuador Forces Conduct Joint Operation Against Drug Cartels

Share:

American and Ecuadorian forces carried out a joint military operation in Ecuador's Sucumbíos province, destroying a strategic hideout and training camp operated by narco-terrorists linked to dissident FARC factions. The U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) confirmed the use of "lethal kinetic force" against designated targets during the operation. The joint action represents part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking organizations operating along Ecuador's border regions, where remnants of Colombia's former FARC rebel group have established operations after the 2016 peace agreement that officially ended that country's decades-long armed conflict.
