Eight Slovak sports journalists have shared their predictions for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which begins today with two matches and runs through July 19. The tournament, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will feature 48 teams playing 104 matches over 40 days. According to the journalists' survey, England emerges as a potential winner despite concerns about the political climate under Donald Trump's presidency, which some predict will create an uncomfortable atmosphere. The expanded World Cup format represents the largest edition of the tournament in history, with nearly twice as many participating nations as previous tournaments.
