Lucia Plaváková has been re-elected as a vice-president of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), the pan-European liberal political grouping, at the party's congress held in Vienna. Plaváková represents Progressive Slovakia, a liberal pro-European party that currently sits in opposition to Prime Minister Robert Fico's ruling coalition in Bratislava. She has stated her intention to strengthen ties among liberal parties across the continent. The result marks a continued prominent role for Progressive Slovakia within European liberal structures, reinforcing the party's positioning as Slovakia's leading pro-EU, centrist-liberal force ahead of future domestic and European political contests.
