The potential cooperation would include work on the unfinished Belene nuclear power plant, a long-stalled project that has been the subject of political and economic debates in Bulgaria for over a decade. The Belene facility, located on the Danube River, was originally planned as a two-reactor plant but construction was suspended multiple times due to cost concerns and changing political priorities in Sofia.
