Slovak Theologian Warns Against Using Faith as Political Shield

Share:

A prominent Slovak Catholic theologian has criticized the manipulation of religious conviction for political gain, warning that faith should not serve as electoral protection. Juraj Vittek, a priest and theologian, argued that problems arise when religious language and gestures create an impression of legitimizing specific political solutions and government officials. He specifically cautioned against Christian prayer being used to suggest that particular politicians have divine authority, calling such practices a misuse of religion that requires careful scrutiny and criticism.
