The Slovak Cave Administration has begun the selection process for a new director, after the position became vacant on June 2 when Branislav Šmída resigned from the role. The state organization, which manages Slovakia's extensive cave system including several UNESCO World Heritage sites, has been operating without permanent leadership since Šmída's departure. The Slovak Cave Administration oversees the protection and management of the country's network of accessible caves, which are important both for scientific research and tourism.
