American journalist Shelly Kittleson has been released after being kidnapped last week in Baghdad by members of Kataib Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed armed militia group. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the journalist's freedom, stating that both Iraqi authorities and the American FBI participated in securing her release. Kittleson, who works with various media outlets, was in the region monitoring the consequences of military conflict with Iran when she was abducted in the Iraqi capital.
