Slovak Town of Dolný Kubín Launches €2.7 Million Cycling Infrastructure Project

The northern Slovak town of Dolný Kubín has begun construction of a new cycling route that will run across the entire town, funded by a €2.7 million investment. The centerpiece of the project is a 100-metre bridge connecting the town to the nearby Záskalie area, designed to create a continuous cycling corridor through the municipality. The project aims to serve a dual purpose: improving everyday transport options for residents by providing safer and more direct cycling connections, and boosting tourism by attracting visitors to the region with improved recreational infrastructure. Dolný Kubín is located in the Orava region of northern Slovakia, an area known for its mountain scenery and outdoor tourism potential. Local authorities expect the new cycling infrastructure to shift some short-distance travel away from cars and make the town more accessible and appealing to cyclists, both local commuters and tourists exploring the wider Orava area.
