Slovakia Records Eighth Consecutive Annual Decline in Abortions

The number of abortions in Slovakia fell for the eighth consecutive year in 2024, continuing a long-running downward trend, according to data from the country's health statistics center. There were 4,531 spontaneous miscarriages recorded, with 4,507 of those involving women with permanent residency in Slovakia. The figures also showed a decline in the number of induced terminations of pregnancy. The sustained multi-year decrease reflects broader demographic and healthcare trends in the country, though authorities have not attributed the decline to any single specific cause.
