China criticizes Czech Senate speaker's Taiwan visit as interference in internal affairs
China has condemned a planned visit by Czech Senate Speaker Miloš Vystrčil to Taiwan, describing it as interference in China's internal affairs. Vystrčil is traveling to the island at the invitation of Taiwan's Legislative Yuan, the territory's parliament, where he is scheduled to meet with Taiwan's president, vice president, and several ministers. Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš refused to provide a government aircraft for the trip, distancing his administration from the visit. The diplomatic tension reflects China's longstanding opposition to high-level international visits to Taiwan, which Beijing considers a breakaway province that must eventually reunify with mainland China, while Taiwan operates as a self-governing democracy with its own government and military.
