Dada Slavkovská underwent hip joint replacement surgery at the age of 42, having initially dismissed her symptoms as a pulled muscle. The condition gradually worsened and also affected her gait before she received a diagnosis. Slavkovská notes that joint replacement surgery need not mark the end of an active lifestyle, pointing to the example of a person she knows who successfully competes in triathlons despite having had both hip joints replaced.
