Cross-Border Cultural Festival Connects Slovak and Hungarian Towns Across Danube River

The 20th anniversary of the AquaPhone festival has once again connected the Slovak town of Štúrovo with the Hungarian town of Esztergom across the Danube River. The cultural event, organized by Karol Frühauf, revives cultural activities along the Danube and brings together communities from both sides of the border. The festival's name references a historical period when the bridge between the two towns was destroyed, forcing residents to communicate by shouting across the water to maintain contact between the Slovak and Hungarian communities.
