Police urge respect for boundaries during Easter water splashing tradition

Slovak police have issued a public reminder calling for respect of personal boundaries during the traditional Easter Monday water splashing celebrations. The police presidium also highlighted the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol during the holiday period. The water splashing tradition, known as 'oblievačka,' is a centuries-old Slovak Easter custom where men and boys traditionally sprinkle or pour water on women and girls as a symbol of health, beauty, and fertility. While the practice remains culturally significant, police are emphasizing the importance of ensuring the tradition is carried out with mutual consent and respect.
