Six Injured as SWISS Flight Aborts Takeoff in New Delhi After Engine Fire

Share:

Six passengers were injured during an emergency evacuation of a SWISS airline flight at New Delhi airport after the aircraft's engine caught fire during takeoff. The Airbus A330 crew immediately aborted the departure and brought the plane to a stop on the runway before initiating evacuation procedures. The incident occurred as the aircraft was accelerating for takeoff when one of the engines began burning, forcing the flight crew to halt the departure sequence. Emergency evacuation slides were deployed to get passengers off the aircraft quickly, during which six people sustained injuries, though the severity of their conditions was not immediately specified. SWISS is the flag carrier of Switzerland and operates as part of the Lufthansa Group. Engine fires during takeoff are considered serious aviation emergencies that require immediate action from flight crews, as they pose significant safety risks during the critical phase when aircraft are gaining speed and preparing to become airborne.
