Snake Causes Two-Hour Train Disruption in Bratislava After Damaging Overhead Power Lines

Share:

Train services in Bratislava were halted for approximately two hours after a snake became entangled in overhead electrical lines near Rača, a district in the northern part of the Slovak capital. The reptile made contact with the traction wiring — the electrified cables that power electric trains — causing a fault that brought rail traffic in the area to a standstill. Services resumed after the disruption was cleared. The incident, while unusual, highlights the vulnerability of railway infrastructure to wildlife interference, particularly in areas where urban zones border natural habitats.
