Slovak Businesses Complain of Chaos Over Electronic Invoicing Rollout

Share:

Slovak businesses are raising complaints about confusion and disorder surrounding the country's transition to mandatory electronic invoicing, warning that constantly shifting rules are costing them money. Companies say the conditions and requirements for the new system have been changing repeatedly during implementation, forcing them to repeatedly adapt their accounting and administrative processes. Electronic invoicing — the mandatory digital submission of invoices between businesses and, in some cases, with government entities — is part of a broader push across the European Union to modernize tax administration and reduce VAT fraud. However, Slovak firms say the lack of stable, clear guidelines has turned compliance into a costly and time-consuming burden, undermining the system's intended efficiency gains.
